The 3rd Seminar on New Technologies and Achievements in Road Engineering Materials and Recycling was successfully held in Beijing from November 13th to 14th, 2024. This seminar is held to accelerate the construction of a low-carbon transportation system, fully implement the "14th Five Year Plan for Green Transportation" development, promote the high utilization rate of asphalt pavement materials for highways and ordinary national and provincial roads, and assist in the green and intelligent development of transportation infrastructure. More than 300 representatives from transportation authorities, highway groups, traffic investment, traffic control groups, research institutions, universities, and technology enterprises attended the conference.

Wang Tai, former deputy director of the Highway Bureau of the Ministry of Transport, presided over the opening ceremony and keynote speech

Liu Jiaping, an academician of the CAE Member and professor of Southeast University, presented the keynote report Research and Application of Ultra High Performance Concrete in Traffic Infrastructure Engineering, introduced the principle of ultra-high performance concrete's mechanical property improvement, shrinkage limiting, toughening and cracking resistance, and rheological property regulation, and shared its practice and effect in traffic infrastructure projects such as bridges and tunnels.

Wang Xin, the team led by President Wu Zhishen of Henan University of Technology, presented a keynote report on "Research and Application of High Performance Basalt Fiber and Composite Materials in Road Engineering", introducing BFRP reinforced continuous pavement, flocculent fiber-reinforced asphalt pavement, non-metallic structural fiber-reinforced concrete, and BFRP anchor rod slope support technology. This article focuses on the design, analysis, and evaluation methods of basalt fiber and BFRP in enhancing roads, as well as their applications in road engineering.

Xu Jian, vice president of the Highway Research Institute of the Ministry of Transport, brought the Research Progress and Prospect of Environmentally Friendly Green Road Materials. In view of the demand of green traffic for environment-friendly green road materials in China, he introduced the technical characteristics and development status of representative green road materials such as recycled asphalt pavement materials, polyurethane pavement materials, foam asphalt pavement materials, and looked forward to the future environment-friendly green road materials.

Li Lifeng, a scientist from Suzhou Jiaotou Zhongyi Silicon Materials (Suzhou) Nano New Materials Technology Co., Ltd., presented "Inorganic Nano Ceramic Materials Practice Green and Low Carbon", introducing the characteristics of inorganic nano ceramic new materials such as long life, long-term pollution resistance, corrosion resistance, and their applications in road traffic, new energy, urban renewal, and other fields. Analyzed the contribution of inorganic nano ceramic new materials in reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions in the above-mentioned application scenarios, and also explored the potential of inorganic nano ceramic new materials in recycling.
